Easy as 1,2,3 (4 and 5)

Picture of woman with bare shoulders and beautifully soft skin Five steps to lovely looking skin

By Georgia Collins

With the constantly changing weather, it’s hard to keep your skin looking and feeling gorgeous. In fact, the wind and rain can leave your skin feeling distinctly dry and run down.

Remember when your mum used to tell you to eat up your fruit and vegetables? Well… she was right! Fruit and veg help to flush out all the toxins in your body, which helps to leave your skin looking and feeling great.  You should also drink lots of water, it really is another great way to help those nasty toxins on their way, and it’s free – so drink up! Try adding some juice if you’re not keen on plain water. Remember you should be aiming to drink at least 1.2 litres a day (recommended by the Department of Health).

Now lets move on to your skin care routine, I know what you’re thinking, that you don’t have enough time in the mornings as it is. Well, the good news is that it only takes a minute or two.

Here are five simple steps to achieving healthy looking skin….

Step 1:

Splash your face with a bit of warm water to open up the pores, then squeeze a small amount of cleanser onto your finger and gently massage it into the skin.

Step 2:

Nice and easy wash the cleanser off. Be sure to gently dag your face dry with a soft face towel or paper towel, your skin should feel slightly rubbery to the touch.

Step 3:

Now wash your face again, this time using cold water to close the pores.

Step 4:

Take a cotton wool pad and squeeze a small amount of toner onto it, then smooth the cotton wool around your face, slowly spreading the toner all over your skin.

Step 5:

Finally, use a moisturiser and rub a pea sized amount of cream carefully into your  skin, adding more where necessary.  Be sure to cover your cheeks, nose, forehead and chin.

Top tips:

If you’re unsure about which products to use, take a trip to your local department store and pick up a few testers, this way you can decide which brand works best for your skin without having to shell out lots of money in the process.

It is always best to try out the mildest product on offer, that way you can step up in strength depending on which skin type you have. You may also want to change your moisturiser with the seasons, as in the winter time your face can need that extra bit of nourishment, where as in the summer months you may find a lighter feeling moisturiser is a better option for you.

Oh yes, feel free to let me know how you get on…
