Why does February feel so freaking weird?!

It’s not that you feel weird. You just feel…less pressured. By Kiesha Meikle

And after the emotional and financial chaos of December and January – the endless spending, celebrating, consuming, manifesting—it’s no wonder. February, especially post-Valentine’s Day, is one of the few truly uneventful moments in the calendar. No major societal push to do something, just space to recalibrate.

‘Is February the actual start of the year? It should be…’

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: New Year’s resolutions are for the birds. February, though? February resolutions make sense.

January is a month of extremes. Hit the ground running! Reinvent yourself! New year, new you! But let’s be real, it’s bloody exhausting. So, with the January madness behind us—salaries restored, the longest month finally over—our minds are clearer. The pressure is off. And maybe, just maybe, this is the time we should be manifesting.

Manifesting in February…

I believe in manifesting, when the time is right. Trying to summon your biggest, boldest dreams in January, right after consuming your body weight in chocolate and prosecco, surviving NYE, and binge-watching Netflix? That’s madness. You want clarity now? Please, please.

January should be for rest, not resolutions. Let it roll. And when February arrives? That’s when we start.

With space to think, to dream, to plan, this is how you actually do it…

1. Reflect Before You Reset
Before jumping into new goals, take stock of what’s working and what isn’t. What did January teach you? What felt forced? What actually made you feel good? Give yourself permission to scrap the things that don’t serve you.

2. Start Small, Start Soft
Big, dramatic life changes sound great, but they rarely stick. Instead, set gentle intentions. Swap “I must go to the gym five times a week” for “I’ll find ways to move my body that I enjoy.” Less pressure, more flow.

3. Align with Your Natural Energy
February is a transitional month—the days are slowly getting lighter, and so is our mood. Use this to your advantage. If January was all about surviving, let February be about building slowly rather than overhauling everything overnight.

4. Journal, But With a Twist
Instead of a rigid ‘goal-setting’ session, try journaling as if it’s already the end of the year. What did you accomplish? How do you feel? This kind of future self-visualisation is one of the easiest ways to get clear on what you actually want.

5. Choose a Theme, Not Just Goals
Rather than strict resolutions, pick a theme for your year—something broad yet meaningful. Maybe it’s expansion, ease, courage, or consistency. Let this guide your decisions instead of a checklist of tasks.

Now’s the time to dream, but do it in a way that works for you.

It would be rude of me to mention manifestation and not drop some kind of link / resource. I like Mel Robbins, I have read her books and she has some pretty legit advice to share. This video has an interesting take for those who might be moving towards the whole manifesting thing.

Feel free to email or comment if you have any good suggestions for how to approach these February feels. Let me know—I’d love to hear how February is treating you.
