My Fitness Diary @thegymgroup: Getting fit solo…

I recently received some homework from my personal trainer (Ash, pictured below) and it included the following:

Then…(to complete gradually over the first 10 days of August)

Here’s the thing…

Working out at the gym with a friendly personal trainer who not only guides, but encourages you, is pretty doable. Working out solo, when you are not only super busy, but have forgotten that the gym even exists is a whole other story.

Before joining the gym and acquiring a personal trainer, I thought I was pretty dynamic. I thought I was a doer, someone who not only talks the talk, but could (on occasion) strut the walk too. I realise now that I am not this person.

I am someone who does what she enjoys very well indeed, but balks, hesitates, procrastinates and ignores what she doesn’t. Suffice to say, my homework is yet to be completed.

The solution? I am getting organised.

For those who feel they are too busy for the gym, this is  a myth. The Gym Group are open 24 hours a day, meaning you can get a workout in at any hour of the day or night…oh yes, you can also workout at home!

Top tip: Get a diary!

If you have a hectic schedule, add your workout routine to your diary. Plan from the week ahead and put your fitness goals in your diary, as you would any other important appointment. This way, not only will you never forget, you will also feel as smug as a bug when you tick it off your list. Each week, review your workout and think about ways you can improve.

Noone said getting fit and healthy would be easy, but it is definitely a challenge worth taking on.
