#MIC confession…don’t judge me

I have a deep, dark, guilty secret to admit. I love (and I mean LOVE!) Made in Chelsea.  For those of you who don’t know what Made in Chelsea is, it is a  ‘reality television’  series, mostly shot in the West London areas of Belgravia, Kings Road, and Knightsbridge. It revolves around the relationships of the ‘posh lot’ that live there and oh, are they posh. I have been a fan since Spencer and Caggie first got together and Ollie and Gabriella were figuring things out.  My partner hates it, but I often sneak off to catch up on their latest non-issues and giggle over their first world problems.

Anway, last night there was a party and the theme was Bollywood!

Most of the cast (and I say cast because let’s face it, it’s not real) wore  pieces by haute couture designer Ekta Solanki .  Lucy Watson, Binky Felstead, Cheska Hull, and Stephanie Pratt all looked amazing and the whole crew went full on glam, colour and bling for the night.

Ekta Solanki ‘s signature style is to weave in traditional aesthetics with avant garde designs. The collection featured on Made in Chelsea was inspired by Ekta’s favorite place in India – Rajasthan. The designs are a reflection of the region’s enchanted hidden treasures, deep-rooted culture and ornamented architecture.

The collection is titled ‘Angels in a Jeweled Box’, Ekta said, “I wanted the designs to evoke feelings of dreamlike magnificence and indulgence, almost like jewellery adorning the female body. I’ve used the richest silks, velvets, Banaras tissues and silk brocades to capture the spirit of Rajasthan.”

Ekta Solanki launched her label seven years ago and has gone on to achieve an international client base, a Design House in Delhi, where she is now based and a studio in London. She is also the winner of three International Asian Fashion Awards (IAFA-2010 and 2011) for her bridal collections.
