Town Hall By Bottaccio
A cultural nucleus designed to spark debate, creativity, and thought, Town Hall Presents brings together leaders, policymakers, artists, investors, and the curious. A year-round programme where data and technology collide with the human energy of art and culture.
At a time when women’s rights, representation, and visibility continue to be contested around the world, creating space for women’s stories feels more important than ever. By Kiesha Meikle
It’s easy for lived experiences to be reduced to soundbites or overlooked altogether. That’s why spaces like Her Stories Untold are so valuable. They give people the opportunity to tell their stories in their own way, on their own terms, reminding us why listening matters just as much as speaking.
Her Stories Untold was the first exhibition in the Town Hall Presents annual programme. Curated by Town Hall’s Director of Art, Virginia Damtsa, and presented in partnership with The Circle, the global feminist organisation co-founded by Annie Lennox, the exhibition brought together a wide-ranging celebration of women’s stories across cultures, generations, and backgrounds.
Visibility, voice, and the realities of women’s lived experiences.
Focusing on visibility, voice, and the realities of women’s lived experiences, the exhibition resisted any singular narrative. Instead, it held space for multiple perspectives, highlighting strength, vulnerability, resistance, and reflection without reducing them to simple conclusions.

Through portraiture, textiles, photography, sculpture, and painting, the participating artists explored themes of female resilience, creativity, and self-expression. Together, the works demonstrated how women’s experiences are often layered, intersecting, and deeply personal.
‘Together, they explore female resilience, creativity and voice through portraiture, textiles, photography, sculpture and painting.’

The Circle, which supports marginalised women and girls facing gender-based violence and economic injustice, brought a wider global context to the exhibition. Its commitment to grassroots action and long-term structural change aligned closely with the exhibition’s emphasis on visibility, representation, and storytelling.

As the opening chapter of the annual programme, Her Stories Untold set a clear tone – one centred on inclusion, dialogue, and the importance of making space for stories that are too often unheard.
Her Stories Untold runs until 1 September.
