It’s easy for lived experiences to be reduced to soundbites or overlooked altogether. That’s why spaces like Her Stories Untold are so valuable. They give people the opportunity to tell their stories in their own way, on their own terms, reminding us why listening matters just as much as speaking.
Her Stories Untold is the first exhibition in the Town Hall Presents annual programme. Curated by Town Hall’s Director of Art, Virginia Damtsa, and presented in partnership with The Circle – the global feminist organisation co-founded by Annie Lennox – the exhibition brings together a wide-ranging celebration of women’s stories across cultures, generations, and backgrounds.

The exhibition resists any singular narrative – instead, it holds space for multiple perspectives, highlighting strength, vulnerability, resistance, and reflection without reducing them to simple conclusions.
What makes this exhibition worth stepping into is not just its theme, but its effect. In this cultural moment, there is something quietly powerful about encountering work that insists on self-definition. It invites visitors to slow down – not in an abstract “art appreciation” sense, but in a more personal way, where you are asked to sit with stories that may feel familiar, distant, or uncomfortably close.
Through portraiture, textiles, photography, sculpture, and painting, the participating artists explored themes of female resilience, creativity, and self-expression. Together, the works demonstrate how women’s experiences are often layered, intersecting, and deeply personal.

The Circle, which supports marginalised women and girls facing gender-based violence and economic injustice, opens up a wider global context to the exhibition. Its commitment to grassroots action and long-term structural change aligns closely with the exhibition’s emphasis on representation and storytelling.
As the opening chapter of the annual programme, Her Stories Untold sets a clear tone – one centred on inclusion, dialogue, and the importance of making space for stories that are too often unheard.
