Whoever invented the wedge heel…

Black, round toed, wedge heel shoe with straw detailing from New Look

Whoever invented the wedge heel deserves a medal.  Not only are they comfortable, but they are far more stable than the average high heel. We often talk about heels vs flats on StyleAble, but I think that a wedge heel could be the happy medium.

No tottering around on a pin for me! I just bought a pair of black, canvas, round toed wedges from New Look for under £10 (in the sale of course) but goodness me are they impressive…so impressive were they, that I bought a second pair in denim (peep toed) for under £20. Bargain! – This may read like an advert for New Look, but I assure you they have not been in touch….yet!

To be completely honest, my good mood (and reckless spending) could be put down to the fact that there is a new addition to the StyleAble team.  Leslie Cousins, Assistant Editor, will now be taking over much of what I have been doing on the website, phew.  A fashion queen, Leslie works in retail so she knows all there is to know about what’s hot in women’s clothing and accessories. Leslie is partially sighted so she will be doing lots of product reviews too…watch out PRs, she is no push over!

A recent meeting with Journalist, Linn Martinussen, turned into an impromptu shopping expedition last week.  The late night Top Shop visit had us giggling like a couple of school girls…until we found out that a gorgeous pair of  black opened toed shoes that Linn wanted were not in stock…it’s hard enough to find shoes that you love, to find out that they don’t have them in your size is just unforgiveable! Fortunately, this didn’t taint our meeting too much and Linn has agreed to write for StyleAble…stay posted for her contributions.

For those fashion and beauty junkies that want even more style updates from us, check out our recent blog posts on the Action for Blind People website…comments welcome:
