Ladies silver watchSince launching www.maryandmavis.com we have been scouting around trying to find some cool vintage pieces to sell online. It’s not as easy as you would think. Buying jewellery and accessories for the lowest price, so that you can also sell for a low price (whilst still making a profit) is somewhat of a challenge….especially when you are short on both time and funds.

Ah, the life of a modern women eh?

One of the hardest items to find are women’s watches. This is not to say that watches are not available, it’s just that finding women’s watches that are not too big, blingy or tacky is a challenge – this coupled with the fact that watches are so personal, especially as most people will wear theirs everyday, has made the whole process pretty tricky. With this in mind, I have been doing my research. I recently had a look at this ladies watch selection. Lots to choose from, but the problem is that I don’t know much about watch trends. Sunglasses-yes, bags-yes…watches-no. This might be due to the fact that I don’t wear a watch myself. I like them on other people, but they make me very uncomfortable. Probably something to do with my commitment issues. You know, not wanting to be held captive by a schedule, be tied down by time keeping…or whatever.

Either way, watches are not my thing.

This is my excuse for not being very helpful the other day, when I received a request from a StyleAble visitor looking for a brightly coloured, fun, talking watch. I was stumped, there are some pretty cool ones in the Action for Blind People Resource Centre in Judd St, London. However, I am yet to find a tactile or talking watch that is either brightly coloured or fun – Am I wrong? Post a comment below.

Anyway, I tweeted the request and got diddly squat back, so I am clearly not alone on this one.

If you could ‘watch out’ for any time pieces – especially talking or tactile – and let us know, that would be great.

For now, I will just have to count down the hours.  (Sorry for the bad gags, I haven’t had my lunch yet…is that the time!?!?)
