We all know that self-care is the best care, right? This is easier said than done, when it comes to caring for your skin in a pandemic. The truth is, it’s hard to find products that work well for your skin when in-store shopping is not what it used to be. With so many stores closing down, products sold out both online and off, in-store customer service at a minimum due to Covid – discovering new products to try can be a challenge. That said, one line of products that I had heard to be affordable, kind to the skin and cruelty free is the Lacura Hemp beauty range. By Maya Schersmith-Meikle

Lacura Hemp Beauty Range

The new line includes Hydrating CBD Face Serum £4.99, moisturising Hemp Body Lotion £4.99 and nourishing Hemp Hand Cream £1.49 – ideal for shoppers looking to experience CBD products at an affordable price.

So, let’s talk – are these products a waste of time despite the huge savings in price?

The Serum:

Let me start off by saying that my skin type is very dry and very sensitive. It can react to any harsh products, leaving my skin inflamed and causing redness in certain areas. On first using the serum, this was not the case, which was surprising as it contains cannabis sativa seed oil and oregano oil. Oils can often be too heavy for me, but the facial serum left my face feeling soft and smooth – moisturised, without an oily residue. The problem with using new products is that when you start to use them, it can seem perfectly fine – but after continued use it can begin to cause problems. After using the facial serum for about a week, I noticed that my eyes started to water and part of my skin began to flare up. This was disappointing as I really liked the product, especially the smell. I decided to use the serum on my body instead and there was no problem there.

The Handcream:

As we all know, London is very cold 90% of the time and our hands can get really dry and rough. This product did exactly what it said it would on the packaging – 10 points go to Lacura, yay! It works. My hands were left feeling extremely moisturised. It has a thick consistency that melts into your skin whilst rubbing your hands together. My only issue with this product is the smell – I am not sure why, but it began to get unpleasant. Whether the smell had changed or had just become overwhelming I am not sure, but this could put some people off.

The Body Butter:

Buttery and smooth, this product is a win. As an after shower moisturiser, this did everything I needed it to do. Knees and elbows, ankles and feet – I would pretty much recommend this for any area where dry skin may be an issue. I even used this on my face, which I would not usually do with a body butter.

OVERALL…

Packaging:
Looks like it does on the website. Vibrant colours of green, red and yellow. The quality is very durable, won’t break if dropped due to slippery fingers. Plastic, no glass. Easy to open, lightweight and waterproof.

Accessibility:
Would have preferred a pump on the serum bottle as the dropper was difficult to squeeze for me. Those with mobility issues with their hands may find the same. The Body Butter tub may also prove difficult due to the large lid which has no outward grip.

Price:
I looked on the Aldi website as they also have a range of skin products – everything from facial scrubs to masks for all skin types. I found that some product from the line can be pricey, however the entire range of products I used came to under £15. Amazing!

Effective:
Overall, I think these products are worth the money IF your skin likes them! I would be careful with certain skin types as some products can be quite strong and may cause irritation on your face. What I would say is that these products work just as well as other high end brands currently on the market.

Have you tried any Lacura products? Let me know.

No, but I might give them a go after reading the review. always looking for natural products that aren’t being sold for silly prices.
